My previous self really leaves a lot to be desired. My current, better self slaps my forehead with alarming regularity at how poorly my past self did. Although nowadays, I try to make it more of a gentle tap in an attempt to be nicer to myself. More of an open-hand, insert-face kind of thing. Cause at least I'm learning, right?
Sometimes it takes some hard core complaining to help me stop and see how lucky I really am. With each upset declaration of “They never...” is followed up with, “Well, they ddI...” Hindsight really is 20/20.
On the Starbucks patio, I just heard her say, “I.am.pretty" in the most determined little voice. As if she was silently stomping her little foot in exasperation to someone who dared to think she might not be. I didn’t need to turn and look at her. I just thought, “Yes, you are.”
I responded with "Nice! Gotta love bacon. At least I do, to the abhorrence of my wonderful vegan friends who I dearly love but not enough to give up pork apparently"
